Boat Shaped Conference Table

Where Comfort and Practicality Meet ...

A boat shaped conference table combines the comfort of a racetrack conference table with the functionality of a rectangular table.  Available in a wide range of materials, styles, colors, and designs, this is a widely accepted, attractive design for a business that wants to convey a professional image with their conference room.

Like a racetrack table, the boat shaped conference table has a beam to support the table that runs down the center, capped by wide, sturdy legs on either end.  The entire support is located deep enough beneath the table that the table legs will not hinder any attendee’s ability to sit up to the table; no one will be sitting, bumping their knees against the leg of the table.

On the other hand, like a rectangular table, this design features corners and flat ends.  This makes it easier for the facilitator to set up a small podium, slide projector, or laptop on the end of the table, because the edge is wide and flat.  It is called a boat shaped conference table because the shape of the table top resembles the shape of a boat’s keel that, seen from the bottom.  It is long, with rounded sides and straight, flat edges on either end.

Choose a table that fits comfortably inside your conference room, with plenty of room to move around the outside of the table, even with people sitting at the table.  You may wish to choose a table that is a little smaller than the room will fit, but with the potential to add leafs to extend it for larger groups.  Remember that you also should consider the number of people who will usually use the table.  If the room is large enough for a table that seats 16 or 20 people, but the majority of your meetings include only 6 or 8 people, using the larger table may not lead to productive meetings, unless your meetings often include blue prints or other large, space consuming materials.  A boat shaped conference table will accommodate any of these situations, if purchased in the size and design that best fits your business needs.
